Spring Break is near...

        Spring Break 2012 is just around the corner, and of course I have no idea what to bring. This year my friends and I are making our way to Florida to get away from Denton, enjoy some sun, and most of all relax for a whole week without school work! But before we make our 13 hour road trip, we must pack accordingly. 


First, we have to make sure we have the best looking swim suits around! So after doing some long term research I have came across a few top choices that would make us Texans stick out among the rest.

This is a 2 piece classic triangle top I have found at www.Victoriassecret.com. Neon is a huge trend right now so I thought this would be perfect for the occasion. It is affordable for college students, easy to find, and the best thing is it comes in several different colors so you can mix and match at your choice of color!

Next I found another neon two piece, but in PINK from Dillards.com. The pink color of this swim suit is to die for, and the ruffles just add to the over all aesthetics. It is a very fun and funky swim suit.

And last but not least, who could not guess we were from Texas wearing this. This swim wear comes  from Venus.com. It is a very classy and patriotic swim suit that would catch anyone's eye.

Now that I am set on swim suits next, I need to find a cover up to wear down to the beach!!

This cotton Caftan is a classy and modest look to go for. It is easy to move in, light weight, easy to carry around, and has a great silhouette. This piece was found at victoriassecret.com

Lace is a HUGE trend right now and so if you are looking for a night out on the town, or a romantic walk on the beach, this is the look for you! This summer floral dress was found on Venus.com. It is very romantic looking, but still light and easy to move in for the beach atmosphere. 

Now that I have my outfits together for the beach, I have to make sure I have all my other accessories because I always pack too light. 

-Water proof make up-- CHECK!

-flip flops and tennis shoes-- CHECK CHECK!

-beach volleyball--CHECK!

-SUNSCREEN!--DOUBLE CHECK!

-and the list goes on.

So as far as what I am interested in at the moment, it is Spring Break next week! And I will be interested to see what the trends are in Florida! Can't wait to report what I find.

What's going on at the moment...

Currently I am working on two projects: one for my fashion accessories class and the other is for my fashion design class. Both of the projects go hand in hand. For my accessories class we have 5 different elements we have to incorporate into each of the 5 projects we do this semester, and one of the elements is to design a piece for a specific garment. Right now I am working on a garment for my fashion design class that was inspired by pop art. The inspiration has a lot of bright colors, influenced by Andy Warhol. I found a really bright rose flowered fabric that I am obsessed with, and the flower inspired me to create a huge neon flower on my dress. This flower was the main inspiration for my purse I am creating for fashion accessories.

These are the fabrics that I am using for my competition garment. The middle fabric is the fabric that was inspired by pop art, and the neon yellow fabric is what I made my flower out of and what I used for my purse.

SUMMER or FALL?

Most of my fashion inspirations either come the exact opposite on the color spectrum.

So I am asking the public on a vote! I need your help viewers! I need to know what the look is for the moment? Would you rather be rocking the street in bright tropical colors with very light fabrics or neutral fabrics with a heavier touch?

Storyboard #1 introduces an array of textured fabric. There are a lot of layers being worn, and most layers are made out of thick fabric. There is a Native American theme this story board is leaning towards. I can not step away from having no bright colors, so I threw in a red to spice up the browns! There are a lot of diagonal angles, I love asymmetrical styles and things that look off balanced. This storyboard theme is leaning towards a look that you could wear out with the girls, or out on the town for the night in the Fall. So if you are looking for a dressy causal style then this might be the storyboard for you.

Storyboard #2 is a neon mess! The silhouette is very short. The fabrics are very loose, and there are not many layers. The fabric flows and is fit to the body. These colors are very bold so if you are looking for a dress to make a statement for an event this is the storyboard for you!

So now it is up to you! A night out with the girls or a fashion statement for the century?

The New Trend

This summer the nations around the globe will come together in the city of London for the Summer Olympics of 2012. These Olympics will bring out colors and symbols. Sports wear will be a big trend this summer, not that it isn't every summer, but this summer big brand names such as Nike will be splashed around the globe on team bags, shoes, jerseys. This will market their name and sports wear will be a huge hit. America will be supporting their nation in reds, blues, and whites. Gold will also be a big color because it represents power during this Summer games. Ribbon will also be a big hit due to the fact ribbon holds the medals. The Summer Olympics are fun and exciting and this will reflect on the clothing as well. They will be fun but yet professional because when athletes win it is the most exciting thing, but it takes are work to get there and this shows on every athlete and this will reflect in clothing.

The above pictures are from Bazaar magazine. Two are of actress Lucy Lui representing a feminine yet patriotic look. These summer games will create unity between women and men. They will be seen as equal this summer, because they will all be powerful and fighting for the same thing; a gold metal.
